Helicopter Crash: Airline Explains Delay in Official Release of Manifest | ThisDay

The need to get consent of the deceased families has occasioned the delay in the official release of the names contained in the manifest of the ill-fated helicopter that crashed into Lagos lagoon on Wednesday.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), a management source from the Bristow Helicopters Ltd, owners of the crashed helicopter, told the agency on the condition of anonymity on Saturday in Lagos that the airline was still contacting the victims’ families. He said their client, SEDCO oil platform offshore, was still contacting the victims’ families and would approve the release of the victims’ names in a few days.

After serving 10 months for shooting his girlfriend to death, paralympic runner Oscar Pistorius will be freed from prison and go into house arrest Friday. Pistorius was sentenced to five years in prison in October 2014 after he was convicted of killing his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, on Valentine’s Day two years ago.

He was convicted of culpable homicide — killing her unintentionally but unlawfully — after he said he mistook her for an intruder.

The driver of the bin lorry which killed six people in a crash in Glasgow city centre is set to face a private prosecution from the family of one of the victims. Relatives of Jacqueline Morton, 51, today told the inquiry into the disaster that they are seeking authority to launch a court action against Harry Clarke, 58.

The Crown Office has previously ruled out prosecuting him for his role in the accident.
