HOW I BECAME AUNTY A

PRIDE

How did I end up being aunty A? Age… Simply.

AUNTY A

Welcome to my corner, ‘askauntyA’, where you can ask me questions about anything you want clarity on, and I will do my best to answer.

With time I have acquired quite a few experiences, and when you find everyone you know towing to you then you know you are there in the elder’s corner. It should give joy, and it does for me, so no sweat…

What’s more important to me is getting to feel you, your thoughts worries, challenge, whatever. I want to be available to you 24/7 because a problem shared is halved

This is actually also a follow through on the promise I made to readers last year when today’s woman magazine turned ten. I had spoken of plans to situate more seriously in the digital space, and since then we have been working on a prettier and more interactive site to help my team and I engage more with you our readers, real-time!

What’s more important to me is getting to feel you, your thoughts worries, challenge, whatever. I want to be available to you 24/7 because a problem shared is halved while a victory or success or love shared is multiplied. Lets reason together unashamed to admit our weaknesses and strengths. This safe space can only be fun if you engage with me.

I engaged Image boosters, a firm run by two females below 30, to manage the process. We had our fights and disagreements, especially because they are helping me navigate a world in which they are natives and I am a new resident. Frankly, I have increased the size of my house in this Digital village by fire by force! And very soon I will acquire citizenship… lol.

Anyway, one of the suggestions by Image Boosters was that we run a campaign to find out who today’s woman is now. Amplified by some influencers, the conversation #todayswoman trended on social media for three whole days!

The participants were as many as they were diverse. But though their look, sizes, and professions were quite varied, their responses had a common thread confirming all we know today’s woman to be.

The qualities that reverberated were Strength, Purpose, Impact, and Caregiver. While these definitions are spot on, you and I know that in playing them out, our experiences are different. How are we living out these attributes?

You tell me.
