Monday Motivation: What Do You Bring to the Table?

Monday Motivation

Welcome to a new week everyone – it’s time for Monday motivation. This is our bid to get you pumped, inspired and excited about the week, ready to do great things and live your best life.

Today…

Last week we published an article that focused on how you can get a seat at the table. Thanks to Ms. Bukky George-Taylor, we got some amazing insight into the skills & refinement needed to not just sit at the table, but earn that space. Check it out here if you missed it. As we wrote the article and read through your comments and reactions, we realized that a lot of people have a ‘substance problem’. And by this, we are referring to the substance they’re working with.

One of the things Ms. Bukky said was to bring value wherever you go. In her own words, “Whatever it is, I don’t come empty-handed.” But do you know what you bring to the table?

It is important for us to acknowledge what else we bring to the table – good or bad. Self-examination is one of the greatest tools we have at our disposal, and being able to closely examine ourselves is a necessity. Where are you mentally? How have you been able to deal with low self-esteem? Are you a confident person? Knowing the answers to these questions gives you a total view of the energy and/or baggage you bring to the table.

It is important to note that people can see energy. If you are feeling sad, incompetent, angry, uncomfortable, unworthy or undeserving, people around you can sense it. Now ask yourself – is that what you’re bringing to the table? Could the reason why people won’t give you a seat be that even though you have the right knowledge, your energy is off? Do they feel drained and exhausted when working with you? Are you depleting energy? Are you taking from the table instead of adding to it?

So as you step into today and work at the table, try to get a seat at the table to even build your own, remember to come with the right goods. Don’t just bring the right skills and expertise, but bring the right energy too!
