While we understand that going back to work is optional for a few, for others there simply is no choice. So, to help you avoid bringing the coronavirus back home, we’ve curated some tips for keeping coronavirus out of your home. Our hope is that these tips can help you keep yourself and your family & friends safe as you do what you need to do.

Adjust How You Dress

As you might have heard, your clothes are capable of carrying the virus and transporting it from place to place. This is why experts suggest putting your clothes in a secure laundry bag as soon as you get home. However, beyond that, there are a few adjustments you might want to consider.

If you have long hair, you might want to switch to something shorter or tie it securely so it has fewer chances of needing adjustment or rubbing infected surfaces. There’s been a debate on if physical glasses are better than contact lenses for those who need them. However, lots of people have suggested that switching from contact lenses to physical glasses reduce the chances of touching your eyes and so work better. You can also reduce the number of clothing you wear to reduce the number of clothes you need to take off and stay away from clothes that sweep the floor or easily rub surfaces.

Remove Clothes As Soon As Possible

As we stated above, your clothes play a huge role in protecting or infecting you or your loved ones with the coronavirus. So, we’re suggesting a tip from the Healthcare Workers guide book. When you return home, remove your clothes as soon as possible, even if it means just to your underwear. As soon as you do this, put them in a secured bag, and either wash them immediately or keep them in a remote location where children or others can’t reach.

Make Sure You’re Clean

Apart from your clothes, you also need to ensure you’re cleaning off any germs you might still have on you. First off, sanitize your hands before you open any door handles and spray disinfectant on your shoes, bags or any other thing you need to take into your home. Take a shower with antiseptic soap as soon as you can making sure you spend adequate time cleaning yourself before coming in contact with the family.

Isolate If You Can

This can be hard, but it’s for the greater good of your family. If you can, isolate yourself while you’re going to work. This can be by moving to temporary accommodation or taking a room in your house to yourself. You can also ensure you only use certain cutlery, towels, shoes etc while you’re going to to work during the pandemic. This reduces your chances of contact with those around you should you be carrying the virus.

Monitor Your Health

As you go to work you will be exposed to all sorts of people and things. This means you need to take your health much more seriously. It is now of utmost importance that you monitor your health and ensure you are in top shape. Check your breathing, temperature etc for signs of possible coronavirus infection. If you notice anything out of the ordinary, don’t take any chances and self-isolate immediately and contact the necessary authorities.
