3 Nigerian Spots to Add to Your Travel List

Nigeria has its fair share of top notch, “vacay” spots. Out of the many, this article will be discussing three you should consider when next you’re drawing up your list of places to visit.

  1. Epe Resort:

Sitting between the Lagos and Lekki Lagoons, this resort is the perfect getaway from your work troubles; in the words of my colleague Jennifer: “the air is so clean, you can immediately tell the difference from the city air, and the tranquil ambience of the surrounding forests will make you forget you’re in Lagos.” The resort houses 39 chalets which include luxury suites, deluxe and superior rooms. It also boasts of a swimming pool, mini soccer pitch, volley ball court, tennis and paddle tennis court, bicycles, fitness center, spa, rooftop bar, a restaurant with an external barbeque and an open area outside the restaurant for Al fresco dining. Side attractions include a trip to the beach, and the Epe fish market. The room rate per night starts from Naira 43,000.

  1. Obudu Mountain Resort, Cross River:

Formerly known as the Obudu Cattle Ranch, it is located on the Obudu Plateau, close to the Cameroon border, in the North Eastern Part of Cross-River State. The accommodation options consist of standard rooms, executive room, huts and presidential suites. There are two ways to get to the resort; one is by driving up the hill, the other which is a tourist attraction in itself, is by taking the cable car. Activities lined up include, swimming, horse-riding, playing golf, participating in the annual Obudu race and walking the 100m canopy walk. Accommodation prices range from 25,000 Naira per night, for the Standard Double Chalet to 72,400 per night for the Special Mountain Villa

Originally created as a game reserve, Yankari has evolved through the years to become a natural park and resort. The park’s abundant wildlife and forest space, make it the perfect place to experience the rejuvenating effect of nature, and as you go on drives through the savannah, you are reminded of the vastness and beauty of creation. Other activities include hiking through the caves present in the park, visiting the mini museum, and taking a dip in the Wikki Warm Springs, the most popular of the springs present in the park. Accommodation prizes range from 2,500 Naira for the student’s bed space to 236,000 Naira, for the Corporate Villa.
