Tips from Rihanna on How to Become a Billionaire on Your Own Terms!
Hey future billionaire, here are some tips on how to become a billionaire…from a billionaire.
Rihanna just achieved billionaire status and has joined the ranks of women & men like Oprah Winfrey & Aliko Dangote. With brands like Fenty Beauty, Savage X Fenty, her music career, and her NGO’s – it’s easy to see where all that cash is rolling in from. But what doesn’t seem so easy? Becoming a billionaire!
Achieving billionaire status takes a lot of focus, determination, work, and great decision-making prowess. But if you asked any billionaire how she/he made it, they would definitely tell you to learn. Learn, learn, keep learning and then learn some more. And then execute!
So as soon as news broke of Rihanna’s new status, we decided to get as much knowledge from her as possible. So while you plot and plan your way to billions, here are some concrete tips to help you along the way – from Rihanna herself.
Take your time to learn first (See what we mean?)
Before you dive into any business venture or decision – it is important to learn first. Rihanna told T Magazine that before she decided to launch Fenty, she became a consumer first. She placed herself at the consuming end of the industry and then became a “tastemaker”. Her unique approach to fashion piqued the interests of brands to collaborate and her stakes in fashion increased. “I’m very hands-on, so I wanted to take it slowly and gain respect as a designer.”
Delete the fear of failure
If you’re scared to fail, then you’re scared to succeed because failure is a huge part of success. Rihanna holds the motto – “Never a failure. Always a lesson” – so close to home that she’s got a tattoo of it on her skin. She had it inked backwards so she could read it in the mirror. To her, failure is an essential part of learning and growing – “how you gonna learn without making mistakes?”
If you don’t know it, get someone who does!
We get it, it can be hard to let go of control sometimes. But if you want to go far, you need people at your table. You can’t cook, serve and park cars at the same time. She told T Magazine – “Even if you’ve never designed something in your life, you might have impeccable taste: I’m welcoming everyone’s vision here, because that’s what it’s gonna take. I can’t just think I know everything. I’m very smart with my control freak. A smart control freak. I welcome other people’s expertise. I love new, young talent.”
Be original, unapologetically
Quick question – who does Rihanna like Rihanna? Nobody, that’s who! Rihanna takes full ownership of her creative abilities and what she brings to the table – and you should too. Tap into your personal power and decide on what your unique offering is. Do your job, play your part, hold your corner and watch success come rolling in.
Don’t focus on the money, focus on the value
We know this might sound counterintuitive, but hear us out. If you bring value to the table, the money will find you out – because clients pay for value. However, if you ignore the value and only focus on the money, you’re not going to go very far. Case in point – have you ever been looking for something like a hairpin and not found it. Then later, when you’re focused on something else you see it in plain sight? It’s the same logic (kind of). Focus on bringing the value that will impact clients and they will pay you for it.
