Imagine my surprise when I walked into the DEW Centre and was transported into nature and greenery. While I would love to go on about the DEW Centre, we’ll leave that for another day and focus on our Publisher & Editor-In-Chief – Adesuwa Onyenokwe’s intimate Sip n Paint get-together in celebration of her 59th birthday.
It was a gathering of 15 women – across ages and professions but with one common desire – to celebrate AO (as Adesuwa Onyenokwe is fondly called).
Unlike some previous celebrations during which friends of AO threw a surprise party for her, AO did the opposite this time around.
The little gathering enjoyed a no-holds-barred conversation tagged ‘Love Your Body’ during which we had to share intimate memories, details and experiences that had to do with our female bodies and in some cases, what they have had to go through.
At the end of the session, the conclusion was to be grateful to my body for everything it has gone through on my behalf and for holding me up all these years.
After that, we did some stretches which we loved because our busy lives can accommodate them – in the office, behind a table, on the staircase, in a meeting and so on.
After the stretches was a tour of the DEW Centre and insights into the lovely nude art pieces, shot by Keleci Amadi Obi, a massage session and finally the Sip n Paint, which we had all been looking forward to
Overall, AO had her way as she managed to get everyone to relax, be one with nature, network, make new friends and enjoy an intimate time with her in celebration of another year around the Sun.
