Stay Away from Holiday Weight Gain with these 5 Tips!
Holiday weight gain is very REAL! In fact, it’s a situation we have all come contact with. But what if we told you we knew how you could NOT gain weight this Holiday? Exciting right?
This time around things are going to be different. No more extra chins, drooping stomachs and clothes that used to fit us fine. We are saying NO to all that Holiday weight with these 5 tips;
1.Eat Ahead
You know how sometimes you decide not to eat a lot of food because you’re saving all the space in your stomach for one meal in particular? Yeah, let’s not do that this year. Why? Because a hungry man is an angry man, and you’re going to take all that anger out on the first platter you see.
When you’re hungry, you tend to overdo it when it’s time to eat. But if you eat bits and pieces of food throughout the day, when you do come face to face with your main meal, you’re not going to overdo it.
2. Eat Smaller Portions
We learned this particular trick from Oprah, so you know it’s going to be good. So the logic is when you’re serving food make sure you serve smaller portions. It’s pretty easy to trick your brain into thinking you’ve had a larger plate of food when you’ve really just had a small portion in a small plate. You can make sure you do this by using a small bowl to serve your food instead of the wider flat plate. And when you do finish that plate, try not to go for a second serving.
3. Drink Water
Water is a great way to fill your stomach. Apart from the obvious health benefits, it goes a long way in making you feel full before you head out to dinner with friends etc.
Also, it’s great to drink water when you’re eating. Water aids digestion which means your food will get to your stomach easier and faster, making you feel fuller quicker.
4. Exercise
We know, you really don’t want to see or hear anything about exercising this holiday. But the truth is, you need to hear it and see it.
Just because it’s the Holiday season doesn’t mean you should throw your workout routine out the window. Ensure you put in at least 30 minutes of working out everyday so you get rid of the calories as soon as you put them on.
5. Just say No!
This is pretty self-explanatory. Sometimes it may seem rude or in bad habit to say no to food when you’re invited to eat etc, but when you think about it, a simple N-O is really necessary. If you’re done eating, and you get offered another plate, just smile, and shake your head from side to side. If they persist, stand your ground. And if that person is your mother, just give in. She will never give up. LOL
That’s it for now. Share your tips & tricks for keeping weight gain at bay.
Happy Holidays!
