250 Female Farmers Benefit From Breast Cancer Screening – Ogun State

No fewer than 250 women farmers in rural area of Ijebu- East Local Government Area of Ogun state have benefited from a-day screening of breast cancer, diabetes and other routine check-ups, organised by OLAM Nigeria Limited, a company in charge of promoting rural farmers, in collaboration with Action Health Incorporated.
The programme was organized in commemoration of International Women day, held at Ehin Osun Community High School, Ijebu-East Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking with journalists, the Zonal Education Officer, Ijebu-East Local Government Area, represented by Mr. Omisanya Fatai, explained that the programme was very beneficial for the women and farmers enclave living in the rural areas, noting that it was imperative for women to be oriented in order to know the value of good living.
The License Buying Agent for OLAM Nigeria in Ijebu Axis, Mr. Adeniyi Adewunmi Sunday said they brought the health programme to compliment the efforts of state government in term of making sure that the women in rural areas have access to adequate health care service delivery.
“We implore our rural farmers to take good advantage of this programme because ‘health is wealth’ we bring this programme to their door step in order to have qualitative health care, and it is very crucial to make themselves available for the screening, our medical team is on ground to take good care of them,” Adewunmi added
The representative of Action Health Incorporated, Miss. Funso Bukoye said the organisation was a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), that promote the well-being of young people in the country including the women farmers, saying that the organisation partnered with OLAM Nigeria Limited on the commemoration of International women day.
“In line with the theme of the International women day, ‘Balance World’ advocating for gender equality among individual, we are now partnering with OLAM Nigeria Limited to bring adequate health facilities to the people of the rural areas, that is why the women farmers are being targeted for adequate health care service delivery,” Bukoye said
