8 More School Girls Abducted Allegedly By Boko Haram

In the wake of the abduction of over 250 Chibok school girls by Boko Haram more than 3 weeks go, 8 schoolgirls have been kidnapped allegedly by members of Boko Haram. The girls are from the ages of 12 to 15 years were taken from the village of Warabe, near Maiduguri. According to the police, the eight girls were taken away overnight on trucks, along with looted livestock and food.

“They were many, and all of them carried guns. They came in two vehicles painted in army colour. They started shooting in our village,” said Lazarus Musa, a resident of Warabe.

On Monday, Boko Haram’s leader Abubaker Shekau released a video criticizing “western education”, which the group is avidly against. He also warned of more kidnappings and kidnappings, as well as saying the girls were sold for marriage. He stated that “God has commanded me to sell”.

President Goodluck Jonathan said his administration was doing everything possible to ensure the schoolgirls were released.
