Last week Friday, pictures of Robert Mugabe, the President of Zimbabwe, tripping after making a speech went viral all over the world. Word had it that he had asked that the picture be taken off the internet but I guess that was a damage that could not be controlled with the rapid spread of the image.

Yesterday, Bulawayo News reported that 27 of Mugabe’s guards have been suspended over his fall. According to the report they got their letters on Friday, but the presidential spokes person denied the reports saying that if anything of such had happened, a statement would have been made from the presidency and not from the media.

However, Bulawayo News reports that at the meeting which Mugabe had with the newly elected president of Zambia, he was seen with new guards. Apparently, the guards are being blamed for the media embarrassment as they ought to have been alert ensuring that they held the hands of the president rather than allowing him to get on all fours.
