In 2012, Rihanna filed a suit against Topshop, a high street fashion store, for using her picture on some shirts without her approval. She was of the opinion that they did this to deceive their customers to believing that she had authorised them to sell the clothes thereby making the customers who may be fans of Rihanna to purchase the shirts.
Yesterday, the court gave victory to Rihanna by making Topshop’s parent company, Arcadia pay her £3.3million. The court also granted an injunction prohibiting the company from selling the clothes without informing its customers that it had not been authorised by Rihanna.
