SECURITY ENGAGEMENTS IN TOP GEAR AS PRESIDENT BUHARI VISITS LAGOS

Ikeja, Agege, Maryland, Ikoyi and Victoria island to be on lockdown as Muhammadu Buhari visits the megacity

Lagos state government has announced Thursday, 29th of March as work-free, to commemorate President Buhari’s visit.

“This is to enable residents to come out en-masse to welcome Buhari”- Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan, commissioner for information and strategy said.

The President would have his hands full as he is set to commission Lagos bus terminal, take a tour to the Eko Atlantic City, attend a colloquium marking the 66th birthday of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and official flag-off ceremony in Victoria Island of the construction of the Lekki Deep Sea Port Project in Epe.

 The world-class bus terminal, an initiative of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration, is situated just behind the railway line and 1km away from the Murtala Mohammed International Airport.

To this end, security engagements will be in top gear, CP Imohimi Edgal, commissioner of Police, Lagos state, said there would be temporary road closures and diversions in some areas. The temporary road closure and diversion would be within Ikeja, Agege, Maryland, Ikoyi, and Victoria Island.

In order for the President’s visit to be smooth and hitch free, the Nigerian Police force will work hand in hand with Nigerian Navy, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority(LASTMA).
