Staycation Anyone? Here’s How You Can Transform Your Home into A Vacation Spot
Missed a vacation due to Coronavirus? Well, here are some tips on how to transform your home into a vacation spot.
So, most of the world has been on lockdown with only partial liftings. Now, that has indefinitely put a hold on basically all our travel plans. What does this mean? Sadly, no vacation time and we can basically wave Summer Vacation a sad and slow goodbye. But all hope is not lost – you can turn your home into that vacation you missed out on.
Here’s how;
Set Aside Some Time
Just like how you set aside the time for your actual vacation, you do the same thing here. You have to plan the time for it. Pick a day (any day of the week that is best for you), work to make that time out. If you have kids, get them engaged for that period, if you’re living with other people, let them know you’ll be unavailable for a set time. Make sure you set the time to have this “vacation time” to yourself.
Create the Ambiance
Setting aside time for yourself is just one part of the equation. When figuring out how to transform your home into a vacation, a huge factor is ambience.
Creating the right ambience can include changing the smell in your home with some scented candles & incense, cleaning up, opening up your windows, bringing in some fresh flowers etc.
Pick the Place
Now it’s time to pick the place. Where can you find the solace and relaxation you need? The bedroom? Your bathroom? The study? Find a place that you can have all to yourself for at least an hour – even if it’s in your car.
Go With Your Favourite Things & People
What’s better than a vacation alone? A vacation with some of your favourite things and people. Grab a bottle of wine, food you like, music, your husband or friend, a great book or your favourite show and self-isolate. Ensure the people you bring are on the same page as you and won’t add to the stress you’re trying to get rid of.
Relax, Intentionally
There’s a huge possibility that you’ll get all the above ready and still not feel like you’re on vacation. And sometimes, this has to do with you. You have to intentionally forget the stress of the day and get into the relaxation mode. Choose to let go of the worries and how many times your child called your name today. Forget yourself and sink into some soft playing music. Quiet your mind and let everything fall into place.
Granted, there’s a huge possibilty that you might not be able to tick all these boxes. But even if you try one or two of these tips to get yourself some ‘me time’, that will go a long way in getting you some much needed rest.
