Senator Tinubu rejects Saraki’s handshake | Vanguard

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Wednesday, administered the oath of office and allegiance on his closed rival in the contest for the Senate President for the 8th senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan and 27 other Senators that missed their oath taking on Tuesday.

But the oath-taking and allegiance witnessed a mild drama as Senator Oluremi Tinubu Representing Lagos Central on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, held back her hands when the Senate President in line with the tradition after administering the oath stretched out his hands to shake her.

University College London (UCL) said Sir Tim Hunt – a Royal Society fellow – had resigned from his position within its faculty of life sciences.

He told a conference that women in labs “cry” when criticised and “fall in love” with male counterparts.

President Muham­madu Buhari for the second time since he assumed office received briefings from service chiefs bordering on security as well as on Lake Chad Basin Commission’s meeting billed for today in Abuja.

The meeting, which held at the Defence House, Abuja, behind closed doors, was to marshal the country’s plans that will be presented at the meeting of the Lake Chad Ba­sin Commission.

Those in attendance were National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.); Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh; and Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Ismail Aliyu.
