How do you define your spirituality?

For me, spirituality starts with the quality of the relationship I have with my inner self which then leads to the relationship I have with God.

Relationship or Religion – which would you choose and why?

Personally I wouldn’t choose any; I would pursue both. It’s possible for one to have a religion without a relationship but having a relationship without God’s guidance and protection will be very difficult. I’m not saying it’s compulsory for anyone else, but I just believe that with all the problems in the world—especially between men and women—it would be nice to have a relationship where both parties believe in God, trust in His words and teachings, and obey all. I’m not saying we won’t have issues but I’m sure we would handle the issues much better. So I choose both.

How do you handle adversity?

I believe the ability to manage adversity depends on your attitude towards it. If you believe you will succeed, you will find a way to do so. In the midst of difficulty it is so easy to despair and give up. What I do is stay objective, have a positive attitude, and act boldly. It also helps to know what you are fighting for because that will give you the strength to persevere. Basically life is too short; if you fall, dust yourself up and move on to bigger and better things.

What are your hopes and dreams?

I hope and pray for a peaceful and safer Nigeria where there is justice, security and development. I hope for the world becoming a better place to live, where there is harmony, love, peaceful coexistence, and equal rights, a world free of violence and hatred.

If you could change one thing about the world in which you live what would it be?

That’s a tough one to answer! There are so many things I would love to change such as, the economy, poverty, child neglect, domestic violence, racism etc. But the first one I would start with is poverty and starvation. Our world has too much of it .It’s just not fair to see all the starving people, especially children. We see them on the streets, see them on TV and we all say ‘that is so sad” but we end up doing nothing about it.
