What We’ve Learnt From Linda Ikeji’s Most Recent Blogpost
Linda Ikeji recently published a blog post detailing the circumstances of her son’s birth, and has received a lot of social media backlash for it.
In the last 12 hours, she has been labelled a hypocrite, been the subject of twitter memes and been accused of trying to throw a pity party. Here are some of the popular tweets in circulation:
Prejudice aside, it isn’t hard for us at TW to see why or how she could have had a child outside wedlock. Having a family has always been top on her bucket-list, as she mentioned 2 years ago, in our 2016 exclusive interview with her:
“I hope I get to marry a man who’s reasonable enough to negotiate. I would even pay the rent with all gladness if the man doesn’t mind. I also want to be a mum, I can’t wait to take my kids to school, that’s what I dream about these days”
Still, we aren’t trying to take a stand here, our hope is that Linda, along with everyone following this gist, has learnt the glaring lesson this event teaches: people who live in glass houses should not throw stones. We’re all human, we all make mistakes; judge actions, not people. The fact that a person has done something wrong doesn’t mean we understand their reasons for doing what they did, or their state of mind when they carried the action out.
To Linda Ikeji, we wish you more success, and a wonderful life with your son, and to the general public, we leave you with this tweet:
