University of Ife Doctor Delivers one baby Twice

Dr Oluyinka Olutoye says yes! The US based Nigerian doctor who studied at the University of Ife recently performed an operation that is nothing short of a miracle even by Bible standards.
Dr Olutoye is the Co-Director of the Texas Children’s Fetal Center. Dr Olutoye recently carried out a surgery on a foetus at 23 weeks in a US Hospital.
The foetus (later names Lynlee Hope) suffered from a tumour which needed to be removed whilst in her mother’s womb. Dr Olutoye removed the foetus, and returned the foetus back into the womb. The foetus healed and continued to grow until she was born again at 36 weeks.
When Jeff and Margaret Boemer discovered that their unborn child was diagnosed with Sacrococcygeal Teratoma, (a rare tumour on the foetus) they became distressed. They had been told by many US doctors that the best option was to terminate the baby.
In a show of resilience, they proceeded to the Texas Children Fetal Center after learning of the success of a similar operation performed in the past on a baby named Garrett Jorgensen who is about seven years old now. On getting to the center, Dr. Olutoye, who led the team that performed the surgery on Baby Garrett told the anxious couple it was a 50/50 chance, but the surgery could be done.
“Being advised to terminate your child is the worst thing a parent could be told. They are not just a clump of cells with issues or medical problems. These are lives; they are babies that need to be given a chance at life!” Margaret wrote on the GoFundMe page opened to raise funds for the costs of the surgery. She was glad that there was someone who believed with her and Jeff that her baby not only had a chance but that “There is no one that we can afford to throw away”.
Margaret paid the ultimate price only a mother could. Apart from having her uterus torn up and sewn again, she had to endure extreme pain and remain bed-ridden for over 14 Weeks after the operation. This was the time the foetus needed to heal inside her and be delivered successfully.
The GoFundMe page raked in $6,020 of the $10.5k goal from 68 people in 5 months. Even after the operation and delivery, donations continue to come through for baby Lynne.
Currently, Lynlee is doing well. She has a very large battle scar across her bottom and lower back from the removal of the SCT.
The President of the United States has invited Dr. Olutoye, members of his team, Baby Lynlee and her parents to the White House for recognition.
