Wife of Former Bayelsa Gov Regains Freedom |ThisDay
The wife of the former acting Governor of Bayelsa State, Mrs. Martha Binabo, who was abducted by gunmen from her warehouse last Monday in a broad-day light operation, has been released. She was released at about 11a.m. Sunday.
Although the family was silent on the payment of ransom for her released, the husband had on Saturday told the former Governor Timipre Sylva who paid him a solidarity visit in his Azikoro home that his wife would be released Sunday.
Matha’s husband, Chief Nestor Binabo, was the Speaker of the state House of Assembly under Sylva and acted as the governor of the state when the Supreme Court removed Sylva from office in 2012.
Buhari to revisit unbanning of textiles | Vanguard
President Muhammadu Buhari is to revisit the recent decision of the Jonathan Administration which removed the importation of textile products from the list of banned items.
A highly placed government official who spoke with Vanguard said the decision by the last administration to remove textile from the list of banned items to be imported into the country was “unconscionable” in view of larger implications on the unemployment situation in the country.
The official who spoke with Vanguard on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak on the matter said the Nigeria Custom service which announced the decision recently has been asked to explain the rationale behind the decision.
