Joycee Awosika’s Advice on Career Setbacks & Detours Will Help You this Week!
Mondays do one of 2 things – set the tone for the week exactly as you planned it. Or, take you down a downward spiral that throws all your plans out the window. Now, there’s a huge possibility that you fit into that 2nd category and this Monday isn’t looking so great. Today, things seem to be falling apart, your plans have been altered and you’re wondering how to keep going on. We get how frustrating that can be.
So, we’re hoping these words by Oriki Group Founder, Joyce Awosika will be of help. Joyce gave her followers a much-needed pat on the back with her words, citing personal experiences as an entrepreneur. And we think it will really help you out today.
She shared;
“Your unexpected detour might just be Gods perfect plan for you.
Instead of fighting what you think shouldn’t be, get in the word, get praying and ask the Lord to reveal his perfect plan. The Bible says “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
Many times we fight exactly where God has placed us because we can’t see the end, if we could see it all we wouldn’t need HIM. Entrepreneurship for me requires discernment to be in alignment with Gods will.
Let me share some detours in my entrepreneurship journey that were indeed destiny.
1. The time our Landlord increased our rent in VI by 25% with no justification in a recession after 3 years of being the perfect tenant, we were forced out. God used that to change my business model & launch us into multiple locations.
2. A customer’s large product order to South Africa got stuck in customs and customs contacted them to pay & in their anger they cancelled the order, asked for a refund and we lost. We re-routed the products to two magazine editors in SA and it opened up the SA distribution doors for us.
3. The time I walked in the spa on a day I normally wouldn’t be there and saw a lady leaving who didn’t seem happy. Decided to get her number immediately and call her to see what’s wrong, only to find out she was upset that they didn’t have her booking recorded when she came in. She ended up having the service but was very frustrated. Because I called, she drove back to the spa to meet me and let me know she was actually on a discovery trip. She frequented one of our other locations and was trying another, to check standards because she wanted to offer us another location! That opened up another location for us and 6 months later we launched 🎉
In this life and on this journey, my mantra is Lord I want to be where you are, if you aren’t there move me. Chasing after Gods agenda even when you don’t fully understand. promises you victory!”

Feel better? This just goes to show that, sometimes, your plans falling through might be a set-up for something bigger. So when ‘bad’ things happen, look for the silver lining. And if there is no silver lining, know that life happens for you, not to you.
