The weekend is here! And as usual, we come bearing mouth watering, lip smacking, finger licking recipes.
Our recipe of the week is Akara Waffle. It tastes amazing and it is so easy to prepare.
The recipe for this dish is from the food master herself – Dunni Obata (aka Dooney’s kitchen). Dunni is a food enthusiast with the most amazing recipes.
See the recipe for Akara Waffles below
INGREDIENTS
  • Peeled Beans
  • Salt
  • Crayfish
  • Vegetable Oil
  • Chopped Onions
  • Chopped Tatashe – red bell pepper
  • Fried Pepper sauce for serving – optional
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Blend the beans to a smooth puree. You can decide to add the onions and tatashe to the beans before blending.
  2. The quantity of beans you need for this depends on the number of people you intend to feed.
  3.  Make sure the consistency is thick.
  4. The traditional recipe for Akara requires stirring the bean batter to aerate it. You can mix with a hand mixer.
  5. Stir in the crayfish and season with salt
  6. Heat up the waffle maker. Spray on oil, or you can dip a kitchen paper towel in oil and rub every usable surface
  7. Pour mixture into the waffle maker.
  8. Avoid closing the waffle maker too tightly.Closing the waffle maker loosely helped the akara cook a little without sticking to the top
  9. Voila! Your akara waffle is ready to be demolished by you!
