#TWReviews – Clarins Double Serum Light Texture

I’ve been all about the skin since the middle of 2022 and if you follow me on social, you’ll see the pains I’ve taken to stay consistent while ensuring I not only purchase the right products but also use them properly. Enter, the Clarins Double Serum Light Texture.

Quite a number of things have hampered my progress, like hormones, procrastination and genuine tiredness, lol. But, I’ve not given up on the skincare journey.

The 2 main challenges I’ve encountered along this journey though, are hyperpigmentation and texture. While the hyperpigmentation needs me to be way more consistent, texture is a different ball game.

Imagine my genuine pleasure when I got the new Clarins Double Serum Light Texture. Clarins Double Serum is a widely acclaimed product to increase skin hydration, reduces signs of ageing and reduces the appearance of pores – resulting in awesome skin texture. I got the Light texture which instantly melts into the skin.

Of course, I was excited to try it out.

One thing I love the Clarins brand for is the simplicity of its packaging and the preciseness with which they portray its scientific beauty persona. Also, do you know how important sustainability is now worldwide? Clarins is a brand that prides itself on being a sustainable company whose activities work towards reducing carbon footprint and this is shown on the flap of the package.

The Packaging

The Clarins Double Serum light texture comes in see-through tough plastic recyclable packaging. The serum itself is reddish-brown. The bottle is actually oval and not round which is new and interesting. But not as interesting as the pump.

The pump has 2 teardrops on it which actually indicate the product quantity that comes out of the pump. For those who want a light application, all they need to do is twist the pump head to have the little teardrop right over the applicator. For those who want more product, they need to align the pump applicator with the bigger teardrop.

Genius in my opinion.

What the brand says about ‘Clarins Double Serum Light Texture’

Two years of research, the testing of 20 raw materials and 250 formula trials were necessary to develop the unique lightweight texture. The new lipidic phase has been modified by 70% compared to Double Serum. It combines a new trio of super-lightweight molecules selected for their volatility: “evanescent” oils which transport the key ingredients to the skin, then disappear, leaving an instant “bare skin” finish with no oily residue. In this way, they enable perfect diffusion of the key ingredients with no oily feel on the skin.

The key thing I got from what the brand and others say about the product is that it works well to hydrate the skin which helps to improve elasticity and get rid of fine lines.

That’s exactly what I need.

Being me, and knowing that the second most important part of skincare after consistency is the application, I looked out for the application instructions and it said Apply: Morning and/or night, apply to face and neck with flat hands, using light pressure, starting from the middle of the face to the outer areas

I stopped all the other products, I had to try this out for 2 weeks – after cleanser and toner, before moisturizer – and here goes

  • Texture: the serum has a really light, non-sticky consistency which makes it easy to apply with no residue (this is really innovative as most serums have a sticky consistency to them when applied to the skin). A little goes a long way and it is quickly absorbed into the skin.
  • Feel: I like the way my skin feels after this – really smooth and hydrated. It literally feels like clean water has been applied to my skin but with a little texture to it. If I didn’t know better, I wouldn’t apply moisturizer after this because my skin feels pretty moisturized after application. But, like every serum, you need to finish up your skincare with mosituriser always.
  • Fragrance: the product is perfumed but inoffensive and almost unnoticeable unless skincare products with fragrance are a big deal to you.

I only started using this a couple of days ago, but I love how supply my skin feels after application. It really does absorb faster into the skin which is great as I can be impatient in between product applications.

I’m looking forward to incorporating this fully into my routine and using it for up to a month. It does show a lot of promise.

Want to give Clarins a try? I’d say this is a pretty good place to start.
