WHY WE LOVE SMART MONEY WOMAN ARESE UGWU
If by now you haven’t heard of “THE SMART MONEY WOMAN MOVEMENT” I am judging you right now. Where have you been sister?
Our woman crush this week is the face behind this movement; the delectable Arese Ugwu. An epitome of beauty and brains, Arese is the founder of smartmoneyafrica.org.
Smart Money Africa is a personal finance blog/platform tailored for the African millennial audience (includes other interested participants as well).
Arese’s emergence on the finance scene is a much needed welcome breath of fresh air. Ms. Ugwu who is all about living well and being financially secure has made it her unofficial mission to educate women on the importance of financial freedom. She hopes to use her platform to change the African narrative of poverty by educating this generation and the ones to come using fun and relatable content to enlighten, empower and promote financial literacy in Africa through speaking engagements, workshops, as well as multiple media platforms.
An average woman (particularly an African woman) never sees the need to work out the numbers, some others find it daunting, others find financial talk of investments, stocks, bonds, ,assets and the whole finance gibberish boring whilst majority believe it is a man’s duty to worry about the finances. Smart Money Africa was born out of these misconceptions and the burning need to revolutionize how African women (especially young ones) think of money, spending habits, investments, savings, poverty and ultimately financial liberation.
This impressive young woman holds an MSc in Economic Development from University College London (UCL), a BSc in Business and Management from Aston Business School, Birmingham and is an alumni of Lagos Business School, London Business School, Executive Program INSEAD Abu Dhabi.
She is the head of Wealth Management at Partnership Investment PLC, a contributor to the Guardian newspaper, host of Guardian TV’ show “You Life Your Money”, a co-host for “Analyze This” on Ndani Tv and serves on the boardsof House of Tara and Nigeria Higher Education Foundation as a non executive director. She is also an Associate Member of Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ) and has served on the Conference Planning Group committee since 2015.
Relentless Arese recently added another feather to her overflowing cap with the launch of her critically acclaimed book “The Smart Money Woman” which is essentially the 21st century woman’s guide to financial liberation.
TW magazine in partnership with the Smart Money Woman Africa will be exploring snippets of valuable information from the must have bestselling book in the weeks to come.
The smart Money woman is available for purchase in bookstores nationwide.
