INSTAGRAM NOW ALLOWS YOU MUTE YOUR ANNOYING FOLLOWERS
Instagram is taking a subtle but bold step put your loud followers on mute.
To some, this mute feature is long overdue while to some others, it is a scary thought. While you can always unfollow someone, that often isn’t a realistic option especially if the person is a close relative. You can’t afford to unfollow your mum just because she posts 12 times a day, for instance. Now you’ll be able to choose to mute the offending profile instead.
The mute button, which will roll out as a test to Instagram users in the coming weeks, has been high up on people’s wish lists for years.
Instagram said it could be a helpful feature for “managing complex social dynamics.” Whether you’re muting someone who irks you — or slyly muting your boss when you plan on having a wild night with your girls– the tool aims to be a less aggressive option than unfollowing another user. The account holders will not know they are muted.
The feature is part of a larger effort to make it easier for users to personalize their feeds based on what they want to see as opposed to what is usually forced on them.
