Where to go this Easter

“…Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.”

If this quote means anything to you, then I presume you are in the mood for celebration. Yes, Easter is upon us. The annual Christian celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Saviour.

Whether it’s the climate or community, there’s a lot of places to be to enjoy the festivities of the grand celebration. Without further ado, these are some of the best places to travel for Easter.

Vatican City, Rome

The most likely destination if you’re in a spiritual mood would be Rome. The Vatican City, located within, is a unique city-state that attracts visitors all year-round for its wealth in historic architecture, and Renaissance art. As the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church, Vatican City is of particular significance at Easter when thousands of people gather to witness the ceremony held at St. Peter’s Basilica.

The trip is a bit over nine (9) hours long from Lagos and a one-way ticket would cost between 126,000NGN and 180,000NGN. A reasonably fair price for a historic adventure.

Lodging and accommodation in and around the Vatican (on a budget) would cost between 21,000 NGN to 60,000 NGN a night. Travel experts recommend JK Place Roma as it celebrates the heritage of the city.

Sabah, Borneo

If you’re feeling like exploring this time of year, then a trip to Asia might just do it. At just the right time, between the two monsoon seasons, April offers the ideal conditions for venturing into the rainforest, or taking a boat out to one of nearby islands where the dive sites are the world’s most extraordinary for their abundant marine-life. Easter is considered one of the best times to travel to Borneo, Malaysia.

Marrakech, Morocco

A former imperial city in western Morocco, Marrakech in April has a temperature that sits comfortably at around 18 degrees. The days surrounding Easter are considered to be among the most ideal here. During the cooler days, before the heat of the summer months arrives, Easter is just right for getting to know the city. So, if you’re looking for a treat for your eyes and rest for your feet, Marrakech is the place to be.

A one-way ticket to this little paradise will cost about 250,000 NGN and the flight time is roughly six (6) hours. Accommodation costs per night range between 21,000 NGN and 60,000 NGN on the light side.  The Mandarin Oriental Marrakech, a short distance from the Marrakech medina, offers an elegant option for those willing to spend the night in style.
