She is not only the MD/CEO of Transcorp hotels Plc – Nigeria’s leading hospitality brand, she is also one of the youngest MD/CEOs of companies listed on the Nigerian stock exchange. Owen Omogiafo’s story is a story of dreams coming true on the platform of creative hard work and execution tinged with the right skills, attitude and support.
Tough and resilient like gold, Owen stared down her very first professional challenge at just16years old, when as an undergraduate in the University of Benin, too ‘shy’ to
leave the lecture hall after the end of her sociology class,had to sit through an accounting class, because the hall filled out before she could exit. Sharp Owen
found it so interesting that she ended up sitting through the course for another
two years just for the knowledge, though she had not registered for it. The extra work didn’t faze her, and years later, that knowledge gave her a head start and firm leg into a career in the finance, management and banking world,which culminated at the United Bank for Africa Plc in 2008, and eventually catapulting Owen to her position
today.
