Job HUNTING

So you have been job hunting since you finished your National Youth service corp about four years ago and you have finally landed yourself an interview. But are you aware that there are a number of steps to take before showing up for the interview?

There are lots of advice already on the internet as well as in self-help books about what you should do when job hunting or preparing for an interview, but lots of people are gobsmacked when they learn that they sabotaged their own interview albeit unintentionally.

The simple job hunting tips below will make you aware of the things you do that could positively impact your interview results.

Research on the company:

The first thing to do as soon as you get the notification for an interview is research on the company! The last thing you want to do is attend an interview for a company you know absolutely nothing about. As the saying goes ‘ proper preparation prevents poor performance’.

Look smart:

Dressing the way you want to be addressed can never be overemphasized! You want to appear like the man for the job, so your outfit should be well thought out be it for a professional environment or a more casual environment. It is important for your clothes to be neat, ironed and properly accessorized.

During a job interview, listening is just as important as answering questions. If you’re not paying attention, you’re not going to be able to give a good response.when you do respond, sound articulate and not mumble your words, also, asking questions makes them see some depth in you.
