3 Things To Remember over the Valentine & Election Week

It’s a special Monday today. It’s the Monday that begins Valentine and election week. There’s going to be a lot of hullabaloo in the coming days. We wrote this piece to remind you of the benefits of staying grounded, and give you tips on how not to lose yourself to the commotion.

  1. Keep it Simple

Valentine’s day, is the day of love, however, love with no boundaries or control can be reckless. Combat this recklessness or tendency to go overboard, by ensuring that you and your partner celebrate in a way you can comfortably accommodate. Same with the elections, try to leave your house and vote as early as possible. There’s no need to get into debates at the polling site; let your votes do the speaking.

  1. Get all your work done early

It’s as sure as sunrise that the rush for enjoyment on Valentine’s, and the rush to get home early on election’s eve, will generate horrendous amounts of traffic. To avoid this, get all your office work done as early as Wednesday if possible, and see if you can negotiate not coming to work from Thursday to Saturday with your employer. If that option isn’t available make the attempt to push for remote work on those days.

  1. If you’re single, remember that Valentine goes beyond romance

Don’t let your lack of a partner keep you down. Valentine is a celebration of love, and love is universal. Spend time with your family and friends; the people who have been there for you, and are happy to have you around. Don’t let pictures of romantic dates and gifts on social media sway you or inspire feelings of loneliness. Make it a mission to show as much as love as is possible on that day; be kind, be loving, be a little friendlier. Spread the message with your actions.
