WIMBIZ organises meeting for 3090 female contestants concerning the 2019 Elections

As the general elections commence on Saturday, Women in Management Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ) has fixed February 13, for a town hall meeting with the 3090 females vying for various offices in the 2019 elections. The meeting which is expected to hold at Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos will give other women to meet with these women in politics, ask questions and get immediate answers to their questions. Speaking during a press conference held in Lagos Monday, Co-Founder/Director, Multistream Energy Limited, Awuneba Ajumogobia said the meeting will create the avenue for women in politics to interface with other women and answer their questions. With the theme, ‘Run Vote, Get Involved, she said: “The Town Hall Meeting is an avenue for women from diverse backgrounds and with different ideologies, to interact with a cross-section of women vying for political offices.”

Expressing the need to engage the women vying for political seats at the 2019 election, Mrs Ajumogobia said: “6 women are contesting for president, 22 for vice president, 232 for Senate, 532 for the house of representatives and 80 for governors. Others include, “275 for deputy governors, 1872 for state house of assembly, 13 for FCT chairman, 29 for FCT vice chairman and 29 for FCT councillors.” Speaking in the same vein, the Executive Director, WIMBIZ, Hansatu Adegbite explained further that the objectives of the meeting is to engage the female politicians to know more of what they want to offer, adding that it would create awareness about politics and how women can get involved. She said: “The meeting will fast track female involvement in politics, fast track the success rate of female politicians through dedicated mentoring and sponsorship initiatives and increase female participation in politics thereby strengthening the quality of policies that lead to strong national development.”

On her part, the Managing Partner and CEO, Brandzone Consulting, LLC, Chizor Malize said that WIMBIZ recognises the remarkable increase in women running political offices, compared to previous years, vowing that WIMBIZ will continue to be an advocate for greater representation of women in leadership both in the private and public sector. She said: “The Town Hall Meeting event will comprise a panel of political candidates from diverse backgrounds and political aspirations. “Each panellist will be given an allocated time to speak about why she is running, where she finds gaps and what she would achieve if elected.”

The expected panellists and moderators, she noted, include: “Khadijah Abdullahi-Iya, the AAN vice presidential candidate, Tolu Sadipe, APC, the federal house of representative candidate, Lara Adesanya, PPC, Lagos State gubernatorial candidate, Yemisi Busari, PDP, Lagos State deputy gubernatorial candidate. Others are “Arinola Oloko, SDP Lagos State house of assembly candidate and Yemi Adamolekun, Executive Director, Enough is Enough Nigeria.”
