tw Series Of The Week – The Bold Type

The Bold Type, a new American drama television series, is definitely top on our “What to watch” this summer.

The show which recently premiered on Freeform (abc family) is inspired by the life of former cosmopolitan editor in chief Joanna Coles and it is loosely based off her long years and experience working in the Magazine industry.

Set in Brooklyn, New York City, the series follows the life of three twenty something year olds best friends; Jane Sloan, Kat Edison and Sutton Brady who all work for a Global Women’s Magazine called “Scarlet” (a fictionalized version of Cosmo) as they navigate the tricky terrain and uncertainties of adolescence/adulthood and the unique challenges of a first real job.

The show explores the outrageous, fun and roller coaster lives of these young women as they learn to find their own voices and footing in a cutthroat world of media and journalism, while staying true to themselves and cheering each other on.

Still in its first season, the show has received generally positive reviews. It has a 7.8/10 IMDB rating and a 100{54d2fcdcd494adb6982253be6fe8d5492e5f586157f419110131714f9092ec60} rating on rotten tomatoes.

This show is very timely for young women as it is highly relatable and stays true to life; it is definitely the perfect crossover show for teens and adults.
