Essence Festival of Culture ’23: Nigeria Made History @NigeriaDayAtEssence with RMD, Osas Ighodaro, Toyosi Etim-Effiong & More!
Essence Festival of Culture 2023 got its dose of Naija Flavour as some of Nigeria’s best talents took its stage. In partnership with That Good Media, owned by Toyosi Etim-Effiong, Nigerian entertainment stars such as Richard Mofe Damijo, Stella Damasus, Omowumi Dada, Osas Ighodaro, Deyemi Okanlawon, Daniel Etim Effiong, Shawn Faqua, Timini Egbuson, Stan Nze, Blessing Obasi, Seun Ajayi and more gave them a dose of Nollywood.
The first-ever #NigeriaDayAtEssence took place on Saturday 1st July 2023 at the Ernest Memorial Convention Centre, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. This event was preceded by a welcome dinner by New Orleans’ first black female Mayor, LaToya Cantrell. In the 50-year history of Essence Festival, this was the first time there would ever be a Nigeria Day on any of the stages.
The purpose of “Nigeria Day” was to encourage cultural connections between Nollywood and other film industries and stakeholders across the world, including Hollywood.
We can’t wait to see what Nigeria Day at Essence packs next year. See you at the Essence Festival of Culture 2024.
