DOG DIES SAVING A WEDDING FROM A SUICIDE BOMBER
A dog died saving dozens of people at a wedding yesterday in Maiduguri. “It died after attacking a suicide bomber,” Spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force in Borno State, Victor Isuku, said. The dog stopped the teenage suicide bomber from detonating her explosives in the crowd.
The dog, according to the police, belonged to a resident of the neighbourhood where the wedding took place. The suicide bomber was about to make her way into the gathering at the wedding when the dog pounced on her.
The girl, whose original mission appeared to have been thwarted, detonated her explosive while struggling to free herself from the grip of the dog. The brave dog died alongside the suicide bomber but saved a lot of lives.

INCREASE IN DSTV PACKAGE PRICES
DStv subscribers in Nigeria on Saturday received an SMS notification on the increase in subscription fee of the DStv packages. Subscribers are however unhappy with the increase considering the economic hardship.
The Managing Director, Multichoice Nigeria, John Ugbe said the decision was made after careful consideration into the market and review of its business operations. “We announced last year that we would do everything possible to hold the price barring any extreme factors. However, all our content is purchased in dollars and although we have done everything possible to hold the prices even with the price of everything else going up, we are now left with no choice but to adjust our subscription prices from the 1st of May. Please be assured that we have worked really hard to keep this year’s fees manageable,” he said in a press statement.

According to Aljazeera, the disease has killed about 328 people as at yesterday, since December 2016. Most of the victims are children aged between 5 and 14 years old. The situation report from the ministry as at Friday, March 31st, show that 90 local government areas in 16 states of the federation have so far been affected including Zamfara, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi, Niger, Nasarawa, Jigawa, FCT, Gombe, Taraba, Yobe, Osun, Cross Rivers, Lagos and Plateau. According to statistics from the Federal Health Ministry, 2524 people have been affected across the states.
Meningitis is spread by exchanging respiratory and throat secretions (saliva or spit) during close contact (for example, coughing or kissing) or prolonged contact, especially if you live in the same household as the infected.
The most common symptoms of meningitis are stiff neck, high fever, sensitivity to light, confusion, headaches and vomiting. Anyone with these symptoms above is advised to urgently seek care at the nearest health facility. Meningitis should always be viewed as a medical emergency as it can be cured if it is detected early.
