PSN Africa Conference 2019
Another interactive session beckons, and the reputable organization Postpartum Support Network Africa (PSN Africa) is once again inviting everyone including stakeholders in the maternal mental health services to its 3rd annual conference to celebrate World Maternal Mental Health Week 2019.
This year’s theme is tagged “And Then We Weren’t: Maternal Mental Health and Rising Above Loss”, and it’s aimed at engaging stakeholders in the mental health & maternal health services spectrum as well as foster effective collaborations with participants and volunteers alike.
Quite alarming is the increasing rate of Post-Partum Depression (PPD) among expecting mothers and new moms – with every 1 in 5 women affected by the degrading condition. But we can take some bits of solace at the fact Postpartum Support Network Africa (PSN Africa) had already begun to champion positive ways of eradicating PPD & other related illnesses among women in Nigeria, and in Africa at large.
The upcoming conference being organized by Postpartum Support Network Africa is geared towards providing capacity building for volunteers and partners in the mental health services, increasing awareness about post-partum depression & related illnesses by 50{54d2fcdcd494adb6982253be6fe8d5492e5f586157f419110131714f9092ec60} in attendees (physically present and online), and creating a forum for patients to provide feedback on treatments, therapies and share experiences for other women to learn and heal.
Major highlights of this year’s conference will include the launch of 2018 documentary on Post-Partum Depression (PPD) in Lagos, exhibitions for heath service facilitators, and a fun yoga session for moms (which starts by 7:30 am at the event centre). The 2019 edition of the PSN Africa conference comes up on Saturday 4th of May, 2019 at the Oriental Hotels, Lekki expressway, Victoria Island, Lagos – Nigeria.
