tw Movie Ticket: Stormy Hearts

Our Movie ticket to our movie of the day, gave us access to the premiere of Judith Audu’s romantic drama, Stormy Hearts. Directed by Tunde Alake, the movie stars veteran actor Fred Amata and upcoming actresses Chrsitiana Martin, Theresa Edem, actors Gregory Ojeifua and Eddie Watson among others. The red carpet buzzed with so much energy with lots of the glitzy and the glamorous lining it, that my three male companions and I were so enthralled  … We didn’t even realize we were way past the scheduled time of 7pm start time, because we had lost track of time.  We were finally seated at 8pm and after some light entertainment, the movie began.

We meet Ella, a first class prostitute played by Christiana Martin. Although she’s on top of her game, Ella wishes to pursue a music career instead but is violently discouraged by her agency’s Oga, Gold Digger, a cruel and greedy pimp played by Kelechi Udegbe. She wins the heart of the character of Fred Amata, Gold Digger’s top client, who graciously offers to sponsor her dream, but Ella opts to steal 3 million Naira from him then runs away, because she really wanted to begin a new life and didn’t want to take any chances. Gold Digger finds out about this and pursues her with vengeance on his mind. Meanwhile, Ella rents an apartment and befriends her neighbours who encourage her to go for an audition to perform at a swanky bar in Lagos. She finds that one of the judges is her neighbor as well, befriends him and a romantic relationship soon blossoms between them.  Life seems perfect for a moment until Gold digger catches up with her. Will Ella’s music career ever kick off? Will she find true love despite her past? There’s only one way to find out J

It’s quite interesting to watch a movie on its premier date. Although slightly pricey, it’s definitely a good excuse to dress fancy and meet celebrities. Nollywood has greatly improved on its movie quality and one could see a lot of work was put into production. The plot was interesting but much more could have been done with the script and the sudden accident and death scenes were more comedic than tragic. Anyway, the movie has been showing at the cinemas for a few weeks now so if you have managed to catch it, it would be nice to share your views here. You could win the chance to see your next movie on us…
