Out With The Old, In With The New

Many people come to a point where they begin to examine the kind of company they’ve been keeping, and wonder whether they need to make changes. The people you surround yourself with have a huge impact on the kind of person you can become, so you want to keep good company. Here, we tell you about the three types of friends” you really need to get rid of.

  • THE ONE WHO PUTS YOU DOWN: This friend is often better off than you are financially, career-wise, or relationship-wise. While everyone should have an honest friend who can tell you everything, this friend is like the bad voice in your head, always making you feel like you aren’t good enough. If you tell her you can’t afford to eat at a certain restaurant, she might make a big deal about it, complaining about your financial situation and embarrassing you. She might brag about her job a lot, making backhanded comments about your own job and suggesting that it isn’t good enough. She might put you down based on the clothes you’re wearing, and while constructive criticism is good, the way she speaks doesn’t seem like it’s meant to be helpful. If you have a friend who goes out of her way to make you feel bad about yourself, you need to get rid of her immediately. Friends like this can start to affect your psyche, and before you know it, you have low self-esteem and you’ve started putting yourself down. There really isn’t any reason to stay around this girl.
  • THE ONE WHO COMPLAINS A LOT: Now, this friend is the constant nagger. All she ever wants to do is complain, no matter how insignificant the situation is. People like this can easily become annoying, and you might find yourself constantly rolling your eyes when you’re around her. The problem with complainers is, while they might just seem irritating at first, complaining is like a cancer. It spreads. Soon enough, you might find yourself seeing things differently, and complaining about situations that were totally normal to you before. Before you know it, you’re easily irritated, and you’ve become the friend that nobody wants to be around. So, we advise you to get rid of the nagger before you notice any changes in your own behavior. There’s hardly any reason to keep a friend around if all she will do is nag about the smallest inconveniences.
  • THE ONE WHO USES YOU: This friend may be hard to notice, but when you do notice her, you’ll probably be annoyed instantly. This girl’s name only pops up on WhatsApp when she needs something from you. Somehow, you only see her at your doorstep when she needs to get something. And the worst part? When you need something, she seems to vanish into thin air. If this sounds like a friend of yours, you have a friend who is a user. In the best cases, this friend is just bit of a pest; she’s annoying and everything, but it’s not affecting you that much. In the worst cases, she might make you begin to doubt your own worth. You start to wonder whether you have anything other than materialistic goods to offer people. You might begin to doubt your other friends, and wonder whether they are friends with you because they genuinely like you, or because they feel like they can get something from you. If this is the case, you must get rid of this friend immediately. She’s not doing anything good for you, and you need to show her the exit.

Now, it’s time to welcome new friends, who will affect you positively, into your life.
