It’s October, Are You Breast Cancer Aware? tw Magazine Asks

Each year, October is set aside as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, while October 13th is “No Bra Day” to raise awareness about mammograms and early detection.

In the spirit of breast cancer awareness, tw magazine will like to reinforce two important elements of breast cancer awareness month.

These include:

1) the importance of early detection of the disease by having frequent doctor’s check ups and self-examination.

2) Having discussions about the disease with others as well as making contribution to breast cancer research.

Even celebrities went bra-less

The point of having a breast cancer awareness month and a day dedicated to not wearing bras is to enlighten more women of breast cancer, facilitate self-examination and motivate people to contribute to cancer research. A woman who has to have a mastectomy or double mastectomy as a result of breast cancer may have endless “no bra days.” As a result, taking one day out of the year to be bra-less let’s you have a little idea of what some women who have had breast cancer have experienced. On a larger note, breast cancer awareness month promotes the discussion of breast cancer, symptoms, treatments and practices for self-examination. In addition, it reminds women that breast cancer could happen to anyone – it also promotes a healthy dialogue of how women have dealt with the disease in the past.
