How to Balance Work and Personal Life

Adulting is hard, not to mention figuring out how to balance work and personal life. From 9-5 jobs and crazy schedules to unbearable traffic that waits for us immediately we leave for the office. And now, it almost seems like it’s gotten harder.

Navigating the world nowadays is definitely new waters. It’s almost liek we have to unlearn and relearn new skills and habits to make life easier and more bearable. And that gets even more complicated when we have to take care of ourselves and others. Sometimes we even wonder where the time to do all thee things is.

Well, now that we have more time on our hands, here’s how you can learn how to balance work and personal life, and throw in some self-care.

Friday TLC (Tender, Loving Care)

This might not be a constant thing but it’s sort of a recharge for your soul. Pick a day, Fridays are best because you’ll typically have less to do on Fridays regardless. Go ahead and cook something, selecta movie to watch that you’ve been looking forward to. You can even take a long bath and just lay down in as much silence as you can muster.

These alone times will help you think clearer, declutter your thoughts, and soothe you. Its oerfect for balancing work and personal life.

Social Media Detox

There’s so much infromation (both good and bad) on social media nowadays. However, it’s funny that no matter how intense things get, we still find some time to scroll through Instagram etc and Retweet those funny/not-so-funny tweets. Even though those moments make for a beautiful distraction, they can make us neglect our mental health nad become isolated. Well, more than is neccessary.

So, how do you remedy this? By tuning off. Take time off social media each week and refocus that energy. Put it towards soending time with family, friends etc. You’d be surprised what that interaction can do for you. And if you’re social distancing and can’t see them physically, spend some time on a video chat or phone call with them.

Talk it Out

It’s completely normal for yout to burnout, especially if you have a lot on your plate or still live in a very stressful environment. It is important to remember that we aren’t machines and sometimes we need to air our feelings to a friend or significant other. So, instead of bottling things up and feeling overwhelmed, try speaking about it and getting it all out. You’d be surprised how releived you’d feel.
