This is the Perfect Protective Style for Natural Hair You Need!

Protective Styles for Natural Hair

It seems likes everywhere you turn, you hear the term “protective styles for natural hair”, especially if you’re an OG in the natural hair community. And if you haven’t heard of that term, where have you been? gasp. Not to worry though, we’ll do a little finding out here.

In case you’ve been wondering what protective styles for natural hair are, they’re basically styles that prevent you from touching your hair every 5 seconds wondering if it has grown 3 inches in 0.5 seconds (just kidding). It does prevent you from touching your hair though and many of these hairstyles range from the high end – weaves or wigs, to the more common braids.

Now that there’s been a bit of an intro about protective styles, there’s one in particular that many naturals sleep on. The case is not that we don’t really know about them, we just forget how fun and beautiful they can be. Okay enough stalling, the hairstyle I’ve been yammering on about is simply – Mini twists.

Considering the fact that not a lot of people rock this hairstyle, I’d say the hairstyle is pretty much ignored and I am a guilty party as well. A mini twist usually sounds nice when we can slap a wig on or if we’re placing our satin bonnet on to sleep, but to take it out of the house? That pretty much sounds like a suicide mission, and that makes a whole lot of sense.

But what if I told you can be made to look really pretty without having a wig on? Would you be a little less apprehensive to wear them? Well, let’s dive in then.

  • Mini twists have no expiration date – you can have them in for as long as you may be comfortable with. Just make sure to use some shampoo and conditioner once in a while, we don’t want to be driving
    people away, now do we?
  • Mini twists are super versatile – you can wear them in any style you like, especially if you wear braids a lot.
  • There are tons of ways to style them – just like braids. Actually, whatever you can do to your braids, you can do to your mini twist.

Still not convinced? Take a look at how easy Mini Twists are to do (You can do them yourself) and how to style them.
