Favor Takes NewYork – New York Fashion Week Day 3

My name is Favor Olugu and I am a Fashion Stylist, Fashion and Style Editor of tw Magazine and Fashion Blogger.

I am currently on holiday in New York, and here, I will be showing you everything I get up to this holiday.

First, we begin with the New York Fashion Week….

Enjoy!

Today I was having brunch with Nigerian fashion bloggers, Monica Awe Etuk of Awedbymoni and Coco Bassey of Millennielle (please insert their IG handles), both of whom are based in Atlanta but were in New York City for Fashion Week.

We had agreed to meet at a nice outdoorsy restaurant called Pera Soho by 11:30. I had come across the restaurant two days ago, just opposite the venue for one of the shows I’d attended and immediately I knew this was it! It had a great vibe and just the right amount of sunlight to make our pictures lit. As the host, I arrived just a few minutes before our 11:30am reservation and made sure everything was in place for our brunch including securing an “instagrammable” spot for us to sit.

The girls arrived shortly after I did and right on time too, both ladies stylishly dressed in casual chic outfits perfect for brunch and far nicer in person that I expected. We started off brunch exchanging pleasantries, discussed fashion week, SS18 trends and Coco taught me a few pro camera tricks while we waited for our brunch. Three glasses of Sangria came first, while our food came in exactly 15 minutes, just as our waiter had said. The food looked so good that our first instincts was taking a photo right before eating. Of course the meal tasted just as good as it photographed. We concluded our blogger’s brunch with a short interview (which will be posted here shortly) and accompanied by pictures right outside the restaurant which our waiter was nice enough to take.

Right after brunch, I hopped into an NYC cab and headed to the only show I was scheduled to attend – To Be Thrill X Judgement of Paris – which produced by Art House Foundation and was located at the Angel Orensanz Center where Alexander McQueen had his first show back in 1996, and only about 10 minutes away from Pera Soho.

For some reason the cab guy thought I had a French accent and was surprised when I said to him that I am from Nigeria, after which he started to ask me all these questions about our ” terrorist situation in Northern Nigerian”, a conversation I wasn’t interested in having – I was here for Fashion Week not the G29 Summit. *deep sigh*

At the venue of the show, it was the usual, stand in line and get confirmed before going in. The show was oozed creative imagination which came as no surprise as the designer, Edison Lu, was a former celebrity stylist who had mastered his own stylish and aesthetic during the course of his stylist career. The collection featured both women and men’s wear in monochrome black and white colors, it gave off major street style vibes. Edison Lu played with textures like tulle, organza and silk while staple pieces included bomber jackets, blazers with embroidered applique and tulle dresses.
