COLOURED HAIR

Wouldn’t it be great if we could maintain healthy hair even when it is coloured?

COLOURED HAIR

More women are opting for a little colour in their hair, whether its highlights, low-lights or a full-on dye, coloured hair can make a woman feel attractive as well as confident. The downside to coloured hair is maintaining it. Wouldn’t it be great if we could maintain healthy hair even when it is coloured? Here are a few tips on how to maintain coloured hair while keeping it healthy at the same time:

  • Get rid of split ends- Be sure to visit the salon at least every six weeks for a regular trim. The healthier your hair, the longer the colour lasts.
  • Deep conditioning treatments- Coloured hair tends to be drier than usual. A deep conditioning treatment is required at least 2 to 3 days before applying colour.
  • Wash your hair-Washing your daily is not necessary. Although, it should be perfectly timed to maintain the hydration your hair needs.
  • Drink plenty of water- Make sure to keep hydrated by drinking lots of water and fresh juices. The state of your hair is an indication of the state of your health. Colour lasts longer on hydrated hair.
  • Limit hair colour change- Regularly changing your hair colour could lead to breakage. If you need to change colours do it gradually and your hair would thank you.
  • Rinse well after swimming-Salt and chlorine can dry and damage your hair, so be sure to give your hair a thoroughrinse after every swim.
  • Stay away from the heat-Limit the number of times you use the hairdryer after washing. Dryers, curling tongs, and straighteners can make your hair impermeable – and impermeable hair does not retain colour so well.
  • Get the right hair products- Shampoos and conditioners specially formulated for coloured hair should be employed. Some of these are made to deposit colour for an even longer-lasting look. Usina g leave-in conditioner with sunscreen will also help protect against colour fading from exposure to the sun.
