Women We Love: Kiki Osinbajo

The thriving Nigeria Beauty industry is no doubt the current big thing, both in Nigeria and Africa as a whole. Over the years, Phenomenal power houses like Tara Fela – Durotoye, Banke Meshida – Lawal and Oke Maduewesi, amongst other women, have worked to put the beauty industry on the map. And lately, many young entrepreneurs and beauty enthusiasts are hopping on the train, one of such being Kiki Osinbajo.

Kiki, one of the two daughters of the Vice president of the federal republic of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo, recently launched a flagship beauty store called Glam’d Africa. The doors to the uber chic store opened on September 9th 2017 in Abuja, and the event was well attended by socialites and beauty lovers.

The vision for Kiki’s store, Glam’d Africa, is to create a hub for beauty businesses, beauty brands, makeup artists, clothing brands, accessories, nail artists and technicians and everything fashion and beauty related.

Amongst other things, Glam’d plans to empower young beauty practitioners by organizing free training for young beauty enthusiasts and providing a conducive co-working space for upcoming and freelance makeup artists who simply have to book a space for whatever period of time they would require to work, thereby eliminating the need to pay exorbitant rent for a makeup studio. Glam’d also provides a platform to encourage local brands to support the Buy Nigerian campaign.

In an interview with Bella Naija, 24 year old Kiki, who has done her best to shy away from public scrutiny, shared that the idea for the store came to her as a teenager. For as long as she can remember, she had always been a beauty lover.

While studying Law and Business Management at Aston University in the UK, her and her classmates were required to come up with a business plan. That was when she drew up a plan for Glam’d Africa. This was four years ago, and since then, Kiki has consistently evaluated the plan, tweaking her ideas on the way, until she arrived at what Glam’d Africa is today, a world class company set to boost the economy, empower practitioners and revolutionize the beauty industry.

Though young, we love how Kiki is making strides and living out her dreams fearlessly.
