Lindy Gems Sound Of Music 2017

It was a delightful evening on Monday 4th September, 2017. The Lindy’s Gems Foundation hosted the public to the first part of this year’s annual Lindy’s gems event themed the ‘Sound of Music ‘at the Agip Recital hall, Muson, Onikan, Lagos.

The Lindy’s Gems made up of 40 Children from the SOS Village and Masha Academy & friends both situated in Lagos had been under the tutelage of instructors from the Muson School of Music and mentored by recording artists Glowreeyah Braimah, Frank Edwards and Nathaniel Bassey for 6 weeks. They were trained in various instruments which included the drums, recorder, keyboard and vocals.

The evening started at 3PM when the doors opened to the foyer for few minutes of networking and cocktails. All performances were by the students and their instructors as they took many individuals down memory lane with beautiful renditions of songs such as ‘Tomorrow’, ‘Do, Re, Mi’, The Hills are alive; Piano renditions of nursery rhymes, Arrieta and so much more.

Notably in attendance were Lampe Omoyele, Managing Director Lucent Consulting Company and member of the board of trustees of the Foundation; Wale Adenuga, popular worship leader and convener of the Unboxed Conferences and Mrs Adesuwa Onyenokwe TV host, Seriously Speaking, Editor in Chief TWMagazine and also a member of the board of trustee of the Foundation.

The foundation also took the opportunity to launch the ‘Tripple E Initiative’ – An initiative to Engage, Empower & Equip 10 children with skills in select creative industries – music, fashion, Sports, culinary, crafts for the next couple of years in celebration of their 10years next year.

The children went home with certificates of participation and the SOS village was gifted with a keyboard to help the children continue in this chosen pathway of creativity. The evening ended with a powerful rendition of the song ‘You raise me up’ by Josh Groban.

The Lindy’s Gems Foundation brings together children from the privileged and underprivileged backgrounds on the platform of play to engage and build them to become Confident and Balanced Children. Every year the chosen Gems learn a skill set under a theme and this culminates to a Family Fun Day. This year, the 9th Edition is in 2 parts. The Family Fun Day which is the 2nd part of this year’s event will hold on October 28th 2017 at the Muri Okunola Park, VI Lagos.
