Fire At The Oba Of Lagos’ Place

Last week, a video was released showing Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu greeting the Ooni Of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi in what some have termed a ‘cold and disrespectful manner’.

Now this week, the Oba of Lagos is in the news again, and it is still not good news. According to several reports, the Oba of Lagos’ palace was gutted by fire yesterday evening. The fire was contained by the Lagos State Fire Department and the Palace is yet to give a statement on the cause of the fire.

But the Vanguard reports that the fire started at about 1.25 pm yesterday. They say that smoke was sighted billowing from the roof of a section of the palace where the monarch’s traditional regalia were stored. An alarm which alerted palace guards was raised, in the process of which efforts were made to contain the fire from spreading to other sections. Everyone in the palace were reportedly conducted to safer places until the arrival of fire men. The fire was said to have destroyed clothing materials, beads among other traditional regalia.

Some Nigerians have responded to the fire, and they believe that it is related to the incident between the Oba of Lagos and the Ooni of Ife last week.

Adedamola‏ @damoche: Oba of Lagos probably has just commercial juju. Ooni of Ifes is original, military grade. He should have known.

Xcel 101 @Sir_XceL: A week after the Oba of Lagos embarrassed the Ooni of ife, there’s a fire at the Oba’s palace… Coincidence? I think not

The Godfather‏ @Ayourb: Who remember the famed Alaafin vs Bode Thomas & how it ended? Well, go & research. Oba of Lagos palace is on fire but thankfully he is safe.

Babanla‏ @biolakazeem: So I hear the Oba of Lagos palace is on fire. Reminds me of the Bode Thomas & former Alaafin episode. For many years,I didnt believe it.

THE- akaveli @Undarey: Ambode should appoint delegates, lets goan beg Ooni on behalf of Oba of Lagos and we Lagosians, before fire starts raining in Lagos.

Adewale‏ @mysterlawk: Oba of Lagos. Palace. Fire. Ooni of Ife in his imperial form and class

Omo-Oshodi‏ @Eguavoen_Oshodi: Hmm! But I thought Ooni said hes forgiven Oba of Lagos ? Why did he still send sango to visit him. OR Sango use his initiatives Ni.

Do you think both incidents are related?

The Wedding Party 2 is On the Way!

Well, it seems like just yesterday when we all trooped to the Cinemas to watch The Wedding Party, a movie that has broken box office records and provided evidence that Nigerians are interested in consuming their own movies.

Now, Mo Abudu is doing it again, with a sequel to The Wedding Party in the works. The Wedding Party 2 is currently filming and many stars from the first instalment are also in the sequel like Banky W, Adesuwa Etomi, Shola Shobowale, Frank Donga and many more others. There are also some new addictions to the cast like Chi Gurl and Seyi Law.

But one noticeable change to the crew is that Kemi Adetiba is not directing this sequel; she was replaced Niyi Akinmolayan who has directed movies such as The Arbitration and Make a Move.

Linda Ikeji spoke to Kemi Adetiba to find out why she is not directing the sequel. Here is what she had to say: There’s really nothing to it, I’m still very good friends with the house, I speak to them every day. I don’t want to make a statement right now, I’m still very close to Mo Abudu there’s no phony business going on. A statement will be out soon though’.

Well, all we can say is that we hope that The Wedding Party 2 will be as amazing as the first instalment.
