OBA OF LAGOS SNUBS OONI OF IFE

So, yesterday, the Oba of Lagos snubbed the Oni of Ife at the World Conference of Banking Institutes hosted by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) in Lagos.

The trending video shows the Ooni of Ife about to take his seat when he notices the Obi of Onitsha and the Oba of Lagos already seated in seats close to him. He greeted the Obi of Onitsha who welcomed him with a warm pat and went on to greet the Oba of Lagos. In a drastic turn of events, the Oba of Lagos dismissed the Ooni of Ife’s greeting with a wave of his hand.

Some have compared it to Wizkid’s snubbing of Eva’s fiancé, but then most others don’t find it funny at all! The ensuing drama has unleashed a backlash on the Oba of Lagos, for ‘disrespecting’ the Ooni of Ife.

RICHARD QUEST IN NIGERIA

The social media has been buzzing about veteran CNN reporter, Richard Quest, coming to Lagos, Nigeria. He was of course trending after he tweeted a photo of himself wearing an agbada from the Nike art Gallery while interviewing Nike Davies-Okundaye. He has also visited Oshodi interchange and today he was caught jogging on the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge, just like Mark Zuckerberg did when he came to Lagos. Richard is here in Lagos to film his show Quest Means Business.

Richard has been taking photos with LAWMA workers, selfie lovers and a host of other people. In one of his tweets, he stated that he has been overwhelmed by the friendliness of the people.

On the flip side, LGBT rights activist, Bisi Alimi, is against the heroic welcome Nigerians are giving the openly gay Richard quest. He took to his Instagram to rant his views.

THE LOVE STORY OF FRANCE’S PRESIDENTIAL FRONT-RUNNER AND HIS WIFE WHO IS 25 YEARS OLDER THAN HIM

The news of Emmanuel Macron defeating his fellow candidate, Marine Le Pen, at the run-off of the presidential elections in France has probably been overshadowed by his unusual, yet adorable love story with his 64 year old wife, Brigitte Trogneux.

Macron, who is 39 and who might be the youngest president France has ever had, vowed to marry Brigitte when he was just 16. At that time, Brigitte was his school teacher and she was married with 3 children. One of her children was even in the same class with him but he however had eyes for her mother.

According to the Mirror UK, he defied orders from his parents to end the romance. The relationship continued after he left for Paris for university, became an adult, graduated from university, and eventually moved into investment banking. Although it was unclear when the romance became a full-blown love affair, Brigette joined him in Paris, and they got married in 2007. But she did not take his name after she divorced her first husband, and they do not have any children together.

In the heat of the recent election, many critics have commented on the age difference between the couple, but Macron has responded to these critics saying: “Nobody would call it unusual if the age difference was reversed. People find it difficult to accept something that is sincere and unique.”
