Thursday Buzz: EFCC Recovers $50 Million Dollars

KEKE MARWA AS WEDDING ENTOURAGE IN LIBERIA

A Liberian couple has become popular for using a convoy of “Keke Marwas” instead of cars for their wedding. According to The Punch, the photos of the unusual wedding transportation means were posted on Facebook by a Sumo Sarah who captioned it “Executive wedding, Congratulations.” The bride and the groom were pictured sitting and smiling in the purple and white decorated “Kekes”.

BETWEEN EFCC AND SACKED NNPC MD

EFCC recovered $50 Million Dollars ($43.4 million, £27,800 and N23.2 million) in a house in Ikoyi, which is allegedly owned by sacked NNPC Managing Director, Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue. According to the Nigerian monitor, the operation leading to the discovery was followed by a whistle blower’s confidential alert which was received by the agency on Wednesday morning. EFCC posted on its twitter pictures showing the monies recovered and they have been trending on twitter since the announcement was made.

According to a developing story which CNN reported, Sheila Abdus-Salaam, the first African-American woman appointed to the New York Court of Appeals, was found dead in the Hudson River. She was 65 years old.

Police responded to a 911 call about a woman found in the Hudson river around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday. She was unconscious and unresponsive, and was later pronounced dead and identified as Abdus-Salaam.

Abdus-Salaam had been an associate justice on the state’s Court of Appeals since her confirmation in 2013. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who appointed her to the state’s highest court, hailed her as a “trailblazing jurist whose life in public service was in pursuit of a more fair and more just New York for all.” She’s been receiving tributes all day from New York Officials.
