APC Rejects Saraki, Dogara as Senate President, House Speaker | ThisDay

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as totally unacceptable and the highest level of indiscipline and treachery the conduct of Tuesday’s inauguration of the National Assembly that led to the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki and Hon. Yakubu Dogara as Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives respectively.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said it will summon an emergence meeting of its leadership to mete out the necessary sanctions to all those involved in show of indiscipline.

Baby born from ovary frozen in mother’s childhood | BBC

A woman in Belgium is the first in the world to give birth to a baby using transplanted ovarian tissue frozen when she was still a child, doctors say. The 27-year-old had an ovary removed at age 13, just before she began invasive treatment for sickle cell anaemia.

Her remaining ovary failed following the treatment, meaning she would have been unlikely to conceive without the transplant.

Experts hope that this procedure could eventually help other young patients.

In the middle of White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest’s daily briefing, officials told all reporters to evacuate the briefing room. The North Lawn of the White House was also cleared.

The Secret Service said a bomb threat had been called in at 1:53 p.m. to the DC Metropolitan Police Department targeting the briefing room specifically. The evacuation at the White House came just hours after U.S. Capitol Police received a bomb threat that forced the evacuation of a hearing on the TSA in the Dirksen Senate Office Building.

The Presidency has described as baloney the rumours being circulated that President Muhammadu Buhari refused to move into the Presidential Villa because of purported advice from Senegalese spiritualists.

In a statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, the Presidency expressed “utter embarrassment at such suggestion,” saying that President Buhari is a practising Muslim who believes his fate belongs to God.
