Most experienced mothers will tell new mothers that they loved their first experience of motherhood. While I don’t doubt that those days were golden, there are just a few things I wish someone had told me honestly ahead of those glory days. If you are pregnant with your first, have just become a mummy for the first time or just curious about what your first time as a mummy will be like, here are six things (of the million things) nobody tells you before you become a mother for the first time.
1) Your baby won’t love you until 18 months.

Yup! You read that right. Your precious little one will trick you into believing that they love you when they smile, gaze at you and cry for you. Don’t fall for this trick, you are simply his food source till he is at least one year old. Don’t worry though, once this loveless period passes, he will grow to love and adore you. I promise.

2) You will feel like the worst human being on the planet.

When your baby does annoy you and you allow yourself to get annoyed, you will feel like the worst human being on the planet. Also, as you will most likely outraged half the time, partly because you haven’t slept in days and partly because your spouse is irking you out, you will feel like the worst human being on the planet.

3) Your baby will make you cry

If you are easily overwhelmed or a sensitive soul, your baby will make you cry. You will think about the life ahead of your baby, all the mean children your baby will meet at school, the cruelty of life and weep for your baby.

4) You will not like your baby all the time.

Those people that tell you that they loved every single second of being a new mother lied. They lied to you my friend. Nobody, not even the most motherly mother likes her baby all the time. Your perfect darling will get on your nerves sometimes.

5) You will wake up in the middle of the night to check if your baby is still breathing

As if you are not lacking enough sleep already, you will wake up (on your own accord) to check that your baby is still breathing. Not once or twice or thrice but numerous times.

6) You will think your baby’s head looks like an alien

Don’t worry, it doesn’t.
